The Jenny Packham 2015 Bridal Collection was inspired by the photographs of 1930s British society photographer, Madame Yevonde. The photographs’ soft tonal colors and hazy, neoclassical ambiance directly influenced the design and palette of this season’s collection.
Talia Shobrook, lead makeup artist for this seasons show, created a “soft but defined” makeup look that “complemented the romanticism of the collection.”
Flawless Face: Defined, but Soft Skin
- · Shobrook first prepped skin with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Hydrating, ($33).
- · Next, she used Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide, ($48, NEW and available July 2014 at Sephora) to create a healthy, even tone. Then she covered any imperfections using Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, ($33).
- · To sculpt the cheeks, she applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Cashmere, ($23), followed by a thin layer of Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Barely Pink, ($24).
- · Next, she applied Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, ($24)underneath the eyes and dusted Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder in Universal, ($35) on the rest of the face to set the makeup and make the skin appear “demi-matte.”
- · To highlight and give “freshness to the skin,” Shobrook appliedLaura Mercier Foundation Primer – Hydrating, ($33) to the cheeks and the tip of the nose using the Laura Mercier Fan Powder Brush, ($30).
Eyes: Sculpted and Muted
- · Shobrook first primed the eye area with Laura Mercier Eye Basics, ($25). Immediately before application, she wet Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café au Lait, ($23). Then, starting from the inner corner, she finely applied the eye shadow, following the lashline, and extended it out to the outer corner with a sharp tick.
- · She lightly applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Sesame, ($23) onto the eyelids.
- · Next, she sculpted the eye by applying Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Cashmere, ($23) in the crease with the Laura Mercier Pony Tail Brush, ($29). Shobrook then highlighted under the brow bone withLaura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Buttercream, ($23).
- · To finish the look, she used Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Suprême Lash Building Mascara, ($24, May 2014) and then went over the mascara with a clean mascara wand to separate the lashes.
- · To tie the look together and flawlessly frame the face, she lightly defined the eyebrows using Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil, ($22).
Lips: Full and Stained
- · To create a full lip, Shobrook mixed Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Sienna and Cocoa, ($27 each). Then she applied the combination to the lips with Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush, ($25), starting in the middle and fading out, which allowed a transparency of color. This application technique allowed the color to appear more concentrated in the center of the lips.
