Four Ways to Make a Difference – September Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

This September, the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund (LMOCF) encourages everyone to join in the fight against ovarian cancer.

Since launching the fund in 2012, LMOCF has continued to educate women about the disease, support those who are undergoing treatment and fund research for a cure. LMOCF has donated over $300,000 to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to help support cutting-edge research that is currently being conducted by Dr. Carol Aghajanian, Chief of Gynecological Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Aghajanian is an expert in “PARP,” and as a first step in treatment, PARP inhibitors tell doctors exactly how to identify the type of ovarian cancer that a patient has (which has been a major challenge in ovarian cancer treatment).

“September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and is the perfect time to join in the fight against this disease,” stated Claudia Poccia, President and CEO of Gurwitch Products. “Getting more people involved is the first step in creating greater awareness for this disease. LMOCF is pleased to recommend four ways to do something meaningful this month.”

FOUR WAYS TO JOIN LMOCF IN THE FIGHT

AGAINST OVARIAN CANCER THIS SEPTEMBER!

  1. KNOW THE SYMPTOMS— Most women don’t know the symptoms (experience persistent bloating, abdominal or pelvic pain, feeling full quickly when eating or changes in urination) or risk factors. If you have symptoms or a family history of the disease, talk to a doctor. Don’t wait; the earlier ovarian cancer is diagnosed, the better the prognosis.
  2. SPREAD THE WORD— Talk to your friends and family members about what you’ve learned. You can join the Speak Out for Hope conversation online by following @LauraMercier on Twitter and Instagram and use #LMOCF, #SpeakOutForHope to support this important cause.
  3. DONATE— You can help LMOCF continue to raise awareness and fund research and educational efforts by making adonation to lmocf.org. All funds go to programs that help diagnose, treat and support women with ovarian cancer.
  4. SHOP FOR THE CAUSE— Laura Mercier cosmetics donates 100 percent of the profits from the sale of Bonne Mine palette directly to the fund today and every day. The 2014 annually-released September items are a Lip Glacé in Peach Hope, an exclusive Jenny Packham Teal Clutch and the Bracelet of Hope.
