SUMMARY:Rancho Los Cerritos Hosts Volunteer Open House
DESCRIPTION:voh.flier-2014-1-up \nRancho Los Cerritos Historic Site helps to sustain\, preserve and share precious historic and cultural landmarks. While the City of Long Beach owns the property\, it is maintained by the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation\, a not-for-profit entity that relies significantly upon volunteers. Tours for local 4th grade students\, and for the general public\, are guided by trained and passionate volunteer docents. Volunteers are also a key part of their Summer Adventures Day Camp\, and many community outreach efforts.\nOn Saturday\, September 6\, at 10 AM\, the Rancho is hosting a Volunteer Open House to introduce prospective volunteers to the many available service opportunities. With free training\, volunteers can serve as tour docents\, work with the staff horticulturist in the gardens\, help to categorize and preserve precious antiquities under the supervision of the historic curator\, or assist with the museum shop.\nAttendees will also learn about the Rancho’s education programs\, including their seasonal events\, Christmas Candlelight Tours\, Summer Concert Series\, Mud Mania\, and their acclaimed and award winning Adobe Days Revisited which\, last year\, served 153 4th grade classes. Of those\, 72 were Title I schools. The Rancho is especially interested in finding enthusiastic volunteers to work with this diverse student population.\nIndividuals interested in joining the Rancho family should RSVP to 562-206-2040\, or email SanderW@RanchoLosCerritos.org. Event starts at 10 but SoCal City Kids is not sure of ending time. Please call for info! \n  \n  \n
