The Museum is transformed into Fezziwig’s warehouse replete with Victorian decorations and lamp posts. Several Dickens characters are around to meet up with our guests like “Fagin” from Oliver Twist teaching how to pick pockets whiles he picks yer’s with the “Artful Dodger” in tow. Nathaniel Winklefrom The Pickwick Papers is all “a-dither” as he demonstrates a health cure via The Electro-static Generator while “Miss Havisham” has Great Expectations for her ward “Estella” by instructing her in the art of insulting the gentlemen in attendance.
All the while mini tours of the fascinating collection of working antique printing presses are in full swing while other guests get to print their own Victorian Holiday Cards & Gift tags with type and cuts from that era on Victorian presses (Talk about a unique Christmas keepsake for a special loved one!)
Many will be serenaded while munching on a Holiday Lunch of Bangers, Gingerbread and Punch (part of the admission) by Capt. Jack & his 1895 Player-Organ cranking out old carols as well as “Steerforth” from David Copperfield with his Holiday Dulcimer plus “Queen Victoria and Father Christmas “! Guests will be filing into our theatre to meet up with Charles Dickens himself as he changes his lecture into an “interactive “event using audience members as part of his cast for a fun rendition of his classic Christmas Carol !
****Returning This Year!! Have a “tin-type” victorian photograph done of you, your family or friends c/o Victorian Photgraphers!!! The Bailey Denton Photographers…Even if you aren’t dressed victorian they can supply some costume pieces that will send you back in time. Great Holiday Gift Idea!
All this and other surprises are in store for those attending and we do encourage our guests to dress Victorian!
