Celebrate World Read Aloud Day (3/4) with an Author over Skype

litworld-nyc3

Today is World Read Aloud Day. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people.

This year, Skype invites teachers to bring authors and illustrators into their classrooms through Skype in the Classroom, which connects students and teachers around the globe. Students can schedule a call with dozens of authors and illustrators who are eager to get kids excited about reading. Teachers can check out the list of fantastic authors to get started.

Don’t have school-aged children – or simply want to celebrate World Read Aloud Day at home? Simply set up a time for your young children to have a video call with grandmom and grandpop, or another favorite relative during which their loved one can read them a story via Skype.
