Celebrate National Popcorn Day this Monday!

I love popcorn! I really do! Gaslamp Popcorn has quickly become one of my favorites! You may remember my reviewing their holiday flavors. Their popcorn is so good that I really can’t pick a favorite flavor! I did recently receive some more samples though and I think their Kettle Corn is one of my favorites! It’s just the right amount of sweet and salty!

What is I told you that you could win a Whole Year of this yummy popcorn? Well…you can! Simply post on Gaslamp social media sites with “I want @GaslampPopcorn!” and you will be entered to win! Now, how cool is that? Keep reading! I will share their social media sites with you soon!

Here are a few fun facts:

o Unpopped kernels are called “old maids” or “spinsters.”
o On average, a kernel will pop when it reaches a temperature of 347 degress
Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
o Americans consume 17 billion quarts of popped popcorn each year. That’s
enough to fill the Empire State Building 18 times!
o According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s largest popcorn
ball measured 12 feet in diameter and required 2,000 pounds of corn, 40,000
pounds of sugar, 280 gallons of corn syrup, and 400 gallons of water to create.
o Christopher Columbus allegedly introduced popcorn to the Europeans in the late
15th century.
o When popped, popcorn kernels can reach a height of 3 feet

Here’s one of my favorite recipes: (Courtesy of Gaslamp Popcorn!)

Forget the burnt marshmallows, our S’mores Popcorn recipe is so tasty your family will want to sing around the campfire. Start with Gaslamp Kettle Corn Popcorn and end with sticky sweet success.

  • 1 bag Gaslamp Kettle Corn Popcorn
  • 64 mini marshmallows or 8 big ones
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • One sleeve graham crackers
  • 2 chocolate candy bars, chopped

Place popcorn in a bowl. Combine the marshmallows, brown sugar and butter and melt in the microwave. Make sure to stir every 20-30 seconds so everything melts and combines smoothly. Pour over popcorn. Mix in the graham crackers and chocolate and enjoy!
