Providing one of the most eco-friendly wants to travel in the United States, megabus.com has transported more than 50 million passengers over the last 10 years – helping to curb our carbon footprint while offering a safe and economical way to see the sites and visit friends and family.
To kick off Earth Month, megabus.com announced the Megabus Masterpiece Contest that encourages artists of all kinds to enter their eco-friendly inspired designs. The grand prize winner’s artwork will be displayed across the side of a megabus and will receive $1,000 for art classes or more eco-friendly travel.
Bus travel is one of the most eco-friendly ways to travel as it reduces the amount of vehicles on the road, in turn reducing the amount of harmful emissions produced through single passenger travel. In fact carbon dioxide emissions per passenger on a half full megabus are one-tenth of those emitted by a single passenger vehicle.
As a leader in sustainable bus travel efforts, megabus.com is always looking to continue to reduce their environmental impact which is why all megabus double decker busses are outfitted with a GreenRoad system. In addition to providing the drivers with real time information and feedback to drive safely, such as highlighting potentially hazardous areas or problematic traffic trends, the system also assists with reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
“What better way to show travelers that megabus.com is committed to sustaining the environment than to have a bus wrapped in Earth-day inspired artwork?”said Sean Hughes, director of public affairs North America for megabus.com. “We are proud to celebrate our commitment to the environment with our creative passengers and fans.”
Contest begins on April 3, 2017 and all entries must be submitted by Earth Day (April 22) with entries accepted until April 21 at 11:59 p.m. CT at http://woobox.com/ogjv7a. The winner will be chosen and announced via megabus social channels on May 15, 2017.
