Cayton Children’s Museum Releases May Programming Events

The Cayton Children’s Museum unveils May programming lineup, which will be filled with interactive play for kids and their grownups.

The Cayton kicks off its May festivities with the Women’s Philanthropy Circle Backyard Bruncheon, which will be held at a private residence in Pacific Palisades on Thursday, May 9. This will be the 3rd Annual Backyard Bruncheon, with proceeds supporting the Cayton’s PLAY4ALL initiatives to allow more kids in our community to experience the wonder of play. More information & tickets

On May 18, kids and their grownups alike will enjoy Parents’ Night Out from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Offering caregivers a night off, children ages 4-10 years will enjoy three hours of activities and free play supervised by the Cayton’s Play Guides. Games and activities include life-size Connect Four, bean bag tosses, floor bowling and more, along with dinner, a snack and a drink. This limited-time series is offered the third Saturday each month from through August and is open to both members and non-members. More information & reservations

The month will also feature a special Storytime+Art event with Nell Cross Beckerman at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23. The guest author will read her latest release, From Park to Playa, a narrative about how nature is interconnected in all of us. Afterwards, guests can explore nature sensory play and blow pinwheel dandelions. This event is free with admission for members and museum visitors.

From May 28 to September 3, the Cayton will extend its open days to include Mondays all summer long. General hours are 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Members early access every day except Sundays, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. The Cayton will also expand its Sensory-Friendly hours to 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Sundays, beginning Sunday, May 26. Designed for children with sensory sensitivities, the Cayton will limit the number of individuals for lighter foot traffic, provide lower music volume to accommodate those sensitive to noise and crowds and dim lighting in the museum for individuals with visual sensitivity. Additionally, families may request sensory bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and verbal cue cards any time at the Cayton.

The Cayton offers daily activities including art studio and storytime, which are drop-in and included with admission for members and museum visitors. For more information about daily programming offered at the Cayton Children’s Museum throughout May, visit https://www.caytonmuseum.org/calendar
