THE INSPIRATION

“Phillip Lim’s new collection was inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, elegant lacquered wood, samurai sword embellishment, and even lipstick packaging. The location is intimate, secretive and lit by red light, evoking an underground performance or fight club. I thought immediately about a tradition I had once heard from the Heian period in Japan when ninjas would paint the symbol of their clan on their thumb. I wanted the nail look to feel symbolic and to have a striking contrast, hence the use of metallic with the beige shade, but to also work with the palette of the collection – a traditional autumnal array of olive green, mustard and burgundy. We did a circular optical illusion in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Commander in Chic and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Gilty Party on half of the girls and an oval shape in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Camelflage and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Gilty Party on the other half. THE INSPIRATION

“When I think of DKNY, I think of the cool inspiration of the 90’s, the color palette of black, gray, white, neutrals, and strong graphic shapes. I knew the nails needed to feel equally sharp. The girls each have their own personality, a variety of hair styles and thus, a variety of nail styles as well. Using two colors, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Dark Hue-mor, a deep navy and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Commander in Chic, a muddy gray-purple, we created four different nail looks which will be randomly applied to the girls backstage. Rimmel London Ambassador Cara Delevingne at the New York Premiere of Suicide Squad.

The Look: Glam rock

The Inspiration:  Celebrity Makeup Artist Romy Soleimani wanted the actress, supermodel and Rimmel London Ambassador to look like a movie star and a rockstar – going with dramatic eyes and a bold lip for the premiere.

How to Get the Look: 

SKIN

To begin, Romy applied Rimmel London BB Cream in Medium to even out the skintone, followed by Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation in Sand to set the look. She gave Cara’s skin a warm glow by applying Rimmel London Kate Sculpting & Highlighting Kit in Golden Sands, using the deepest shade as a contour while blending the pink blush subtly into the apples of the cheeks.

LIPS 

Romy applied Rimmel London Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Color in Kiss Me You Fool as a base, topping Cara’s lips with Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipstick in Call Me Crazy. 

EYES & BROWS

For her eyes, Romy applied Rimmel London Exaggerate Auto Waterproof Eye Definer in Earl Grey and Blackest Black over the whole lid. She then added more Blackest Black along the lashline, the crease of the eye, and on the inner rim, smudging it underneath. She then pressed in some theatrical silver glitter and finished off the eyes with Rimmel London Scandal’Eyes Mascara.
