On Saturday, April 13, 2013 Heritage Square Museum’s annual Vintage Fashion Show and Tea takes a look at “How History Affects Fashion and How Fashion Influences History.”

Beginning at 11 a.m., learn how in our history, fashion affected people’s outlook on life and their view of their social status, thus influencing their potential. For example in 15th century Germany, sumptuary laws forbade the lower and middle class from wearing excessively gaudy raiment. Around Venice, people were restricted from weaving anything but black velvet, so as to make a distinction between town and country. In general, fashion most heavily influences the economy, which in turn affects other aspects of society. [Read more…]
