Experience dance, music, cuisine, and cultural artifacts of the Pacific Islands on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5, at the Aquarium of the Pacific!

Discover and explore the rich and diverse cultures of the Pacific Islands at the Aquarium’s 13th annual Pacific Islander Festival. The festival will include traditional craft demonstrations, educational programs, and an ocean of entertainment, including music and dance performances. Enjoy hula, Tahitian drumming, Hawaiian games, island cuisine, and the work of artisans. Hawaiian, Maori, Tahitian, Samoan, Marshallese, Fijian, and Tongan cultures will be featured.

PARTNERSHIP: The Aquarium of the Pacific has been invited by Conservation International to take a lead role in public education and outreach for the Pacific Rising project. The mission of Pacific Rising is to help prepare residents of many Pacific Island nations to adapt and thrive—economically, environmentally, and culturally—in the face of climate change and sea level rise. The residents of many of these islands will have to find new homes because their islands will be drowned by the end of this century. The Aquarium of the Pacific will provide educational programming to its visitors to draw awareness to this crisis facing many Pacific Islanders, and help to secure funding for them.

  1. I’d like to see the traditional dances from all the islands, maybe have the kids play traditional games. We loved the day we spent in Hawaii at the Polynesian Center, and this would be a great reminder.
