Say Aloha to Pineapple Season at Islands Restaurants

Synonymous with warm weather and beach days, sweet and tangy pineapples hit peak season from March through July. Islands Restaurants, known for its surf-inspired menu and ice-cold tropical drinks, is celebrating the tropical gem with a special Pineapple Pairing Menu this spring.

Starting April 1 and running through May 31, pineapple lovers will find a limited time Pineapple Pairing Menu with suggested pairings of popular pineapple dishes from the main menu. Favorites include the Hawaiian Burger, topped with fresh grilled pineapple and teriyaki sauce, paired with the Big Island Iced Tea; the Yaki Tacos, topped with a house-made grilled pineapple salsa, paired with a refreshing Piña Colada; and the Hoisin Beach Bowl, made with chunks of fresh grilled pineapple and grilled vegetables, served over brown rice with mahi mahi or chicken and paired with a signature Mai Tai. Each pairing is meant to complement and bring out the sweet and savory flavors of the fruit.

Kids can join in on the fun with a themed coloring contest, which will also run through the end of May. To enter, kids simply design and decorate the pineapple coloring sheets provided in restaurant, and parents or legal guardians post the colorful creations to social media using #PineappleParadise and #IslandsBurgers for a chance to win $50 to Islands. Ten lucky winners will be selected. For kids that love pineapple, Islands Gremmie Menu features a dish popular with both kids and parents, fresh pineapple spears with yogurt dip.

My husband and I had the opportunity to visit our favorite local Islands in Redondo Beach this past week and were quite impressed with the service and the food! I do have to admit that I am always quite impressed with the friendly service and delicious food at this local restaurant.  But, here’s some news! Islands has two items that are only available for a limited time!  They are the Moa Kaneohe Crisp with fried chicken, applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese and tomato and the Moa Mauna Loa Crisp with fried chicken, topped with buffalo sauce, bleu cheese crumbles and tomato.  We tried the Moa Kaneohe Crisp and it was delicious!  I am hoping that this one will stay on the menu for a long time!

We also tried some of the Pineapple menu items and I do have a favorite new Taco! The Yaki Tacos are really tasty! I just loved the house-made grilled pineapple salsa! Another hit is the Hawaiian Burger!  I have to agree that pairing these meals up with a Pineapple drink such as a Mai Tai is a really great idea!

My husband and I also had to have two of our regular favorites!

I simply can not go to Islands and not start my meal with their Spinach & Artichoke Dip! My husband loves their Buffalo Wings!

We highly recommend going to Islands this month! I suggest going there as soon as possible and try their delicious Moa Kaneohe Crisp and their Yaki Tacos!  I know you will love the food and I still think that they only pick the friendliest of staff!
