Rolie Polie Guacamole Chips and Salsa Available September 25th!

Chips & Salsa Cover Art_low res

Holy Guacamole!  The award-winning kindie music titans of Brooklyn are back!  Rolie Polie Guacamole is set to dish out some ear spice for families everywhere with the September 25 release of their fifth album, Chips and Salsa.

Rolie Polie Guacamole lays claim to being one of the hardest working bands in kids’ music, and that just might be true.  They’ve released four albums and played well over 1,500 shows nationwide since hitting the boards with their first performance in 2007, receiving top picks fromBoston.com, Time Out NY Kids, and Time Out Chicago.  (It must be in the genes, for founding band member Frank Gallo’s dad is none other than veteran kids’ musician Lou Gallo.)

Winner of the prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards,Rolie Polie Guacamole has developed a smart, parent-friendly musical style that dresses up original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers, plugging in a sizzling electric current of rhythm that lights up lyrics humming with relevance and humor.

Produced by the acknowledged wizard of the kindie mixing board, Dean Jones, and featuring a stunning roster of guest artists that includes The Chapin Sisters (Abigail and Lily Chapin, daughters of Tom Chapin),Jen Chapin (daughter of Harry Chapin), Mike Dillon (Primus & the Chocolate Factory, Les Claypool, Ani DiFranco), and Amelia Robinson(Mil’s Trills), as well as singer/songwriter Katie Mullins, Chips and Salsa continues the Rolie Polie Guacamole tradition of bouncy, fun, high-energy songs all done up in folk, funk, rock, Latin and country styles, about eating healthy, staying active, and places the band loves to go, with a sprinkling of animal tunes thrown in for good measure.

Album highlights include the jovial, Latin-flavored “Rolie Polie Guacamole,” “Always Brush Your Teeth,” which showcases Frank Gallo’s smooth vocals, the wildly rocking “The Mantis,” and a one-of-a-kind take on Woody Guthrie’s  classic “This Land Is Your Land.”  Listeners will note influences ranging from Primus, Ween, and Pink Floyd to The Beatles and Boards of Canada.

Enthuses Frank Gallo, “Chips and Salsa is the culmination of nearly a decade that Rolie Polie Guacamole has spent developing the very best family program possible.  We consider this album to be our crowning achievement.  It’s a fun, rocking good time for all, and we hope it really blurs the line between great kids’ music and great music, period.”

Previous Rolie Polie Guacamole releases include Triathlon (2014, Parents’ Choice Fun Stuff Award®), Houses Of The Moly (2012, Parents’ Choice Silver Honor Award®, NAPPA Honors Award), Time For Hummus (2010), and Rolie Polie Guacamole (2008).

I received an advanced copy of this CD and I like that the band has an unique sound! The lyrics are fun and young children ages 2-7 will really enjoy this one!

Chips and Salsa will be available at www.roliepolieguacamole.com, CDbaby, iTunes, and other digital retailers.

Alex & The Kaleidoscope Get on Board! Fun and upbeat music for kids ages 4-8!

PromoImage

Hot on the heels of winning a 2014 New York Emmy® Award for Best Children’s Programming, Alex & The Kaleidoscope, with Alex Mitnick at the helm, has a splendid itinerary of colorful musical adventures in store for kids with the September 25 release of their new album, Get On Board!

Alex & The Kaleidoscope’s songs unfold like storybooks, captivating young minds and stirring their imaginations.  Get On Board! invites children to observe and celebrate the world around them.  Associating the pleasure of a sweet tune with an interesting insect or the color and shape of a shark, singing along to a song about delicious garden vegetables, or dancing to a funky rhythm while hearing a list of recycled materials — all of these make connections in a child’s mind that will last a lifetime.

Honored over the past eleven years with 18 national awards, Alex Mitnick’s work has earned kudos from some of the most discerning critics in the children’s entertainment arena.  Jeff Bogle of Out With The Kids lauded Alex’s “groove-oriented, world music-infused, rich & textured rock-n-roll.”  Kathy O’Connell, host of WXPN’s Peabody Award-winning radio show, Kids Corner, praised Alex & The Kaleidoscope for “musical depth combined with witty lyrics that talk directly to kids.”

Setting the pace for Get On Board! is the “Alex & The Kaleidoscope Theme Song,” which manages, in just 60 seconds, to cover three different sounds, tempi, and styles, unified by the lilting friendliness ofAlex Mitnick’s warm voice.  The question, “Who’s that comin’ down the track?” receives some fun (and funky) answers on the album’s title song, “Get On Board.”  Next, the band slides into a mood of great mystery, painting a deliciously creepy sound picture on “Insect Tourists.”

Other highlights include “Outside,” a Rolling Stones-type rock anthem showcasing the “built in smile” that has become a signature of all Alex Mitnick vocals, “Recycle,” a funky, ’70s-style reminder to stop pollution by becoming part of the solution, and Alex & The Kaleidoscope’srendition of the classic African-American spiritual, “Oh, Won’t You Sit Down,” which is marvelously done, with a spirited, authentic ring and perfect electric guitar instrumental break.

A graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Alex Mitnick is dedicated to both teaching and performing.  In addition to touring the nation and producing award-winning television shows and recordings with Alex & The Kaleidoscope, Alex has spent the past fifteen years honing his unique teaching style, incorporating percussion, games, movement, and, as he says, “lots and lots of singing” into a fun and engaging musical experience.  Since 2000, Alex has directed the music program for children eighteen months through eighth grade at the Princeton Montessori School in Princeton, New Jersey.

Full episodes of the award-winning Alex & The Kaleidoscope TV show can be seen on YouTube, Kidoodle.TV, AmebaTV, Toon Goggles, and Battery Pop.

I received an advanced copy of this CD and as with other music by Alex & The Kaleidoscope…this is a CD full of upbeat & lively music and is a whole lot of fun for children ages 4-8!  I highly recommend!

BuppaLaPaloo helps boost children’s confidence!

unnamed (3)

There is really nothing more important that self-esteem. Did you know that 16.9% of high school students report being bullied? Did you know that 64% of students who are bullied never report it? Bullying is an epidemic problem in our schools today.

So, how do we end this madness and start developing children who are self-confident and love themselves?

Dee Wallace, who you will recognize as the mother from ET, has developed an amazing product that will teach children to love who they are, which in turn will create children who can love others. With her product BuppaLaPaloo, she has created a fabulous interactive toy, and a child’s best friend, that will promote self-love and will help nurture children and help them grow.

What is BuppaLaPaloo? It is an adorable bear that speaks self-loving phrases to children, which they in turn repeat back to the bear, stating them in first person: phrases like “I am so loved” and “I love me” and “I love my body.” Your child will repeat the phrases back, creating a powerful memory and a powerful beginning of a healthy self-esteem. Please visit the Kickstarter campaign to watch a video about BuppaLaPaloo and see why this product is going to change kids’ lives.
