Father’s Day cookies kids can make for Dad Father’s Day cookie recipe from FamilyFun magazine

Father’s Day is only 1 week away!

Here’s a cute Father’s Day cookie recipe from FamilyFun Magazine. Kids can give dad the ribbon he deserves with five simple ingredients: a cookie, tinted frosting, M&M’s, chocolate frosting, and sour belt candy.

Father’s Day Cookies:
Show Pop he takes top honors with a blue ribbon Father’s Day dessert. Generously cover a round cookie (ours were about 2 inches wide) with tinted frosting. Press on M&M’s. Pipe on a message using chocolate frosting in a ziplock bag with a snipped corner or in a piping bag fitted with a writing tip. Trim two pieces of sour belt candy (we used Airheads Xtremes) as shown, then place on a plate and arrange the cookie on top. Present your deserving dad his award, along with lots of hugs and kisses.

PBS KIDS announces Summer Safari programming and resources On-air programming, digital resources, partnerships and community activities provide opportunities for kids and families to learn and explore all summer long


This summer, PBS KIDS is encouraging kids and their families to continue learning beyond the school year with a “Summer Safari” of content and activities. Developed to help bridge the summer learning gap, PBS KIDS’ Summer Safari includes specials and new episodes from DINOSAUR TRAIN, WILD KRATTS, CURIOUS GEORGE and WORDGIRL, free digital tools for parents and kids, and partnerships with AARP Foundation Experience Corps, I Can Read books published by Harper Collins Children’s Books, Reading Is Fundamental and National PTA that bring learning activities directly to communities.


“Research shows that it is critical to support children’s learning during the summer months to help prevent learning loss while they are out of school,” said Lesli Rotenberg, General Manager, Children’s Media, PBS. “PBS KIDS and our member stations are committed to making summer a fun and enriching time for all kids. Through this year’s Summer Safari programming, national partnerships and community activities, we will provide free PBS KIDS resources to families, helping them learn and explore during the summer months.”




DINOSAUR TRAIN: Zeppelin Adventure: PBS KIDS Summer Safari kicks off in June with one-hour specials from DINOSAUR TRAIN every week, including the premiere of DINOSAUR TRAIN: Zeppelin Adventure on Monday, June 15. In this all-new one-hour special, the Pteranodon family takes off on the Dinosaur Train Zeppelin to explore the continent of Pangea.


WILD KRATTS Wild Wednesdays: July is jam-packed with WILD KRATTS fun every Wednesday. The month kicks off onWednesday, July 1, with the hit movie WILD KRATTS: Back in Creature Time. Two new episodes of WILD KRATTS premiere each of the following Wednesdays in July. AARP Foundation: PBS KIDS has partnered with AARP Foundation Experience Corps to extend the learning from this summer’s new WORDGIRL episodes. Through this initiative, AARP Foundation Experience Corps tutors, PBS member stations and their local partners will provide WORDGIRL literacy activity booklets to children in kindergarten through third grade. The activities build on the literacy and vocabulary skills addressed in the new WORDGIRL episodes, which will premiere weekly this summer. I Can Read! books published by HarperCollins Children’s Books: PBS KIDS and HarperCollins are offering free reading party kits for hosting an I Can Readathon event through participating retailers and PBS member stations. Reading Is Fundamental and National PTA: PBS KIDS is partnering Reading Is Fundamental and National PTA to encourage families to explore reading and learning through a variety of activities this summer.

Tahoe Donner to Host Tribute Bands for Summer Concert on the Green


Tahoe Donner’s annual Summer Concert on the Green returns this year with ‘60s and ‘70s flair as the iconic rock and roll era is recreated on July 3 with Beatles and Rolling Stones inspiration.

Two all-star tribute bands will take the stage and transport guests back in time. Britain’s Finest brings the complete Beatles experience to Tahoe Donner, including the signature Beatles’ look, and The Glimmer Twins, a Rolling Stones tribute band, will captivate guests with the Stones’ greatest hits.

Summer Concert on the Green is an all-ages event and will take place under the stars at the Tahoe Donner Driving Range, located adjacent to Trout Creek Recreation Center at 12790 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee, CA, 96161. It is a tree-lined driving range with a gentle-covered slope, surrounded by forest and greenery. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site, but attendees may also bring their own picnics, including low back chairs. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Since becoming a proud parent of a puppy, I am always on the look-out for cool products for my pup. Looking for a fun place to go this Summer to beat the heat? Soak City is one of our top picks! So much fun for the whole family! My son and I can’t wait to go this month. I like that there really is something for everyone. There are Banzai Falls and Old Man Falls for those who love the water slide thrills. My favorite is the Sunset River, which is lazy river action. Just my speed! I could stay in there all day! Luck for me, this is also my son’s favorite.
